Questions

Before you call, the plain answers

What does a first conversation cost?

Nothing. Imara listens, asks questions and tells you whether she can take the case. You’re under no obligation.

How do you charge?

Most cases are on a contingency fee: Imara is paid a share of what’s recovered, and nothing from you if there’s no recovery. Case costs like filing fees, depositions and experts are separate; your written agreement says who pays them if the case recovers nothing.

How long do I have to bring a case?

It depends on the claim and the defendant, and some deadlines are short. Claims against a city or county can need a written notice within months. Call early, even if you’re undecided.

What should I have ready for the first call?

Anything in writing: tickets, charging papers, medical records, grievance forms, letters from the agency. Photos and the names of anyone who saw what happened.

Will my case go to trial?

Most settle. Imara prepares each one as if it won’t, because agencies settle cases their lawyers think will be tried.

Can you help with the criminal charges too?

Imara doesn’t take criminal defense. She works alongside your defense lawyer, or refers you to one, so the two cases don’t trip over each other.

Is what I tell you confidential?

What you tell Imara while seeking legal advice is protected. Please call rather than send details through the website form.

Do you take cases outside Birmingham?

Yes, across the courts she’s admitted to. She’ll travel to where it happened.

Something still unclear? Ask her

Ask Imara directly. A short call is usually enough.
